Our School Our Week

Honours Evening

The Prize Giving service of old was revamped this year to be a more student focused experience. The evening was a great success and the new format enabled us to hear the reasons why students had received honours. Honours recipients now receive a lapel badge, it is great to see these being worn with pride around the school. Honours presentations were interspersed with musical performances, students reading their own poetry, accounts of sporting successes and of the recent World Challenge expedition.

Many thanks to Clare Young, our guest speaker and former student, who inspired and moved us through sharing the story of how she came to raise so much money for Leckhampton Court Hospice. Clare is the creator of The Work of Heart garden that you may have seen at the Malvern Show or in the Cathedral this summer. Her story reminded us that sometimes life is not straight forward and there are bad times, but with support from others, channelling our own resilience and just being brave we can achieve spectacular things.

The evening was a true celebration of students past and present. It really gave the audience a window into the wonderful things that happen at Denmark Road High School. The celebration was rounded off by the staff choir singing 'Lean on Me' as a tribute to our students and recognition of the strong teacher to student support we have in our school.  Oh, and of course what celebration would be complete without the school song 'Non Nobis'!

Many thanks to Nick Reynolds of Sharpened Image Photography, a parent who volunteers each year to provide a photographic record of our celebration. Below is the link to all the photographs he took for us that evening.

School Communications

We’re making communication easier, faster and more effective

I’m pleased to advise that we’ve introduced a new service - School Gateway. This means that we can share information such as personalised lesson and exam timetables, achievements and assessment results with parents more quickly via email, text, online and smartphone app.   You can also use the app or website to receive key news and updates from the school, view and let us know of any updates to your own details and send information to us our attendance officer.

What you need to do now

Download the app: If you have a smartphone, please download School Gateway from your app store (Android and iPhone). The app shows the same information as the website PLUS you can send app messages to the school for FREE (for example updates to attendance) – this will also save the school money when we send text messages.

OR

Visit the website: www.schoolgateway.com and click on ‘New User’. You’ll receive a text message with a PIN number. Use this PIN to login to School Gateway.

Can’t activate your account?

If you’re having trouble activating your School Gateway account, it may be because school doesn’t have your current email and mobile phone number on record. Please call us on 01452 543335 or email office@hsfg.org and we’ll update the details on our system.

We hope that you will find School Gateway a valuable way to keep up to date.
