High School For Girls

Believe, Achieve, Thrive

Year 7 and 8 Disco

During the winter months, the PTA for both Sir Thomas Rich’s and the High School for Girls run discos for the Year 7 and 8 students.  This is a great way of raising funds for the PTA and is enjoyed by all students. During the disco, we sell soft drinks, sweets and party items such as glow sticks. We are also looking at running a club night for the older students.  This will involve the hiring of a night club where only soft drinks will be sold and officially registered bouncers and staff will be present.  The night club also ensures that no alcohol is bought onto their premises and any advertising for alcohol, gambling or smoking is removed.
The PTA are always looking for helpers for the discos, so if you can help then please click on this link to register when you can help.  Many thanks.

Summer Fun Day - Saturday 7 July 2018 - 11.30 am - 2.00 pm

Last year's Summer Fun Day - Saturday 1 July 2017

Although the sun didn't really come out until we were packing away luckily the rain stayed away and even though numbers attending were sadly down this year, it didn't affect the atmosphere and everyone appeared to be having a good time. It was great to see so many students running stalls and

the bungee run seemed very popular as did the tombola, and of course, the students were extremely eager to get their own back and throw wet sponges at their poor teachers.

The raffle was very successful and we are extremely grateful to the businesses and individuals who kindly donated some excellent prizes. Well done to Sam Clarke who won the 1st prize £100 Amazon Voucher.

The inter school competition, to see which stall could raise the most money, was won again by Alex Pana. Once again she had put a huge amount of effort into her cakes. She thoroughly deserved to win the prize, but I have to say that a couple of the other stalls were hot on her heels this year. So well done to everyone who took part and supported us. In fact, their efforts nearly contributed to half our earnings on the day!

The theme of this year's Cake Competition was "Fun in The Sun".  The number of entries was disappointing but the standard of those that did enter was very high. Congratulations to Esme Hale who was the winner of the best decorated cake and Miss Bennett for winning the best tasting cake.

We are delighted to announce that overall the Summer Fun Day and Raffle raised just under £2200 and all the money will be used by the PTA to help enhance your daughter's or son's experience whilst at the school.

This is a fantastic result and was very much a team effort - we appreciate the donations from families and supporters, the time given up by parents, students, teachers and the PTA volunteers, not forgetting the school caretakers, Chris and John,  who helped so much in the preparations. I would also like to say thank you to Delia for providing the refreshments in the dining hall and being supportive throughout the morning.

So a big thank you to everyone who helped in anyway large or small.

We hope everyone enjoyed the day and we look forward to next year.

PTA Christmas Fayre 2017

It was a brilliant success, both on the night with lots of happy faces and lovely Christmas atmosphere from the choir and musicians, and very good financially.  We raised just over £700.
