World Class Curriculum
Teaching and Learning at the High School for Girls and the High School Sixth Form bring to life our vision that students will Believe • Achieve • Thrive and Discover • Flourish • Belong. Our curriculum is broad, balanced and mapped to provide clear progression in subject knowledge and skills from Year 7 to Year 13 and beyond to higher education and careers. We are responsive to individual needs and interests, aiming to tailor the classroom experience and curriculum to our students.
The wide range of opportunities within and beyond the classroom develop the whole person; their knowledge, autonomy, resilience, understanding, attitudes and values. We understand that our students will be the leaders of the future and we prepare them to understand local, national and international issues and to have the necessary skills to be motivational and effective. Resilience is crucial to this development. Underpinning our curriculum is a language of learning that embraces autonomy and encourages students to reflect, to learn from mistakes and to improve as a result.
Within year groups we offer rich first-hand experiences and make meaningful links between areas of knowledge and the major issues of our time. Our community is committed to each other and to continual development as active and future citizens.
The thirst for learning within our classrooms is palpable, our teachers provide outstanding opportunities which enable students to explore and be challenged. They are empowered to believe in and take control of their destinies.
