Welcome to the PTA section of the school website. We hope the contents will prove useful to parents and teachers as we organise our fund-raising events and distribute the funds to benefit the students of the High School for Girls.
About the PTA
The PTA is an independent voluntary organisation, consisting of parents, supported by teachers and the school. Our purpose is to support the school in improving and augmenting the facilities already in place. This is achieved through co-operation and communication between parents/carers and staff, by further developing our relationship and organising activities which support the school.
The PTA plays an important role within the school and local community with activities centred on several key areas: fundraising, the provision of second hand school uniform and communication. It is also a forum for parents to raise suggestions and ideas.
What we spend the funds on
Every penny of profit made by the PTA is spent on improving your daughters’ and sons’ experiences at the High School for Girls. We like to allocate funds to three key areas: supporting regular contribution via Library Subscription and prizes for prize-giving; supporting faculty requests from students and teachers and spending 50% on a large project such as new lockers for the Performing arts building, the dining room during the summer of 2011, and in 2014, the new minibus which is very exciting. As well as organising and running events, the PTA provides valued support and help at school functions such as providing refreshments for consultation evenings and open days.

Fundraising contributors. They have together raised over £600, and since we started fundraising in this way, our donors have all helped raise £1,239.31 for the school. Those small donations of 1.5% from Amazon may look insignificant and not worth doing, but they soon add up!

We would love to make this a major part of our school fundraising and if more of you could sign up, it could really work for us. In addition, you would know that all your online shopping is indirectly helping the school. Don’t worry about your anonymity, the only information we receive about our donors is the name you choose to be recognised by and the donations we receive from your retailers. It doesn’t generate a tonne of spam emails either, so it really is hassle free.
